Custom-cast hammers in four material configurations: Cr26 mono-block for soft feeds, Mn18Cr2 work-hardening for medium, Bi-Metallic (Cr26 tip fusion-bonded to Mn18Cr2 body) for premium extended service life, and TIC-tipped for maximum abrasion resistance on clinker and slag. Every hammer individually weighed and laser-marked with weight and part number for balanced rotor installation.

Cast grate bars control output particle size by setting the maximum dimension. Spacing 25–75 mm depending on application. Cr26 standard for abrasive clinker; Cr27Mo1 for high-temperature + abrasion (cement pre-heater). Replace at 5mm gap increase — a wider gap allows re-circulation load that costs 5% downstream mill energy penalty.

First-impact zone receives 100% of feed kinetic energy. Mn18Cr2 (work-hardens) for coarse feed; Cr26 (carbide-rich) for medium. Heavy-gauge castings with ribbed back to resist deformation. Replace at 50% thickness loss — worn plates allow housing damage that is far more expensive to repair than timely plate replacement.

Always replace as a matched LH/RH pair — mismatched liners cause asymmetric chamber wear. Bolt-on design for fast change-out. Replace at 50% thickness — exposed bolts damage rotating hammers.

Structural components of the rotor assembly. End discs carry the hammer pins and transfer impact force to the main shaft. Worn edges cause rotor vibration, premature bearing failure, and hammer pin loosening. Hardfaced wear zone available for high-cycle applications. Replace at 5mm wear on outer diameter — beyond that, hammer pin retention is compromised.

Frequently Asked Questions

Bi-metallic vs mono-block — which hammer type?
Bi-metallic (Cr26 tip fusion-bonded to Mn18Cr2 body): extended service life compared to Cr26 mono-block in abrasive clinker and slag applications. The carbide-rich tip resists wear while the Mn body absorbs impact. Cr26 mono-block: suitable for soft limestone where impact energy is high but abrasion is low. TIC-tipped: maximum abrasion resistance for alumina, clinker with high silica, and iron ore.
Why are hammers individually weighed?
Rotor balance. A 1% mass difference between opposite hammers at normal operating speed creates vibration, premature bearing failure, and fatigue cracking in the rotor shaft. Every hammer is individually weighed and laser-marked with its weight and part number for balanced installation.
What grate bar spacing do I need?
Spacing determines product top size. 25–40 mm for fine grinding (cement finish), 40–60 mm for medium (raw meal), 60–75 mm for coarse (clinker breaking). Replace grate bars when the gap widens 3–5 mm beyond original spec — wider gaps allow oversize particles to escape, increasing downstream mill energy consumption.
How often should I inspect grate bars?
Visual check every 1,000 operating hours at minimum. More frequent in abrasive applications (every 400–600 hours). Always inspect alongside hammer rotation or replacement.
